From Sleep Token’s masked drummer to a Grammy-nominated New York session great – what the people who actually play True Solids say about them.
Sleep Token’s masked drummer, known only as “II” – on stage behind a True Solid River Red Gum.

Awesome drum man! Very warm tone but lots of crack too. Very musical – it def passed the audition last night. Got so many nice tones out of it at the gig… very versatile and excellent. Everyone commented on how good it sounded, it’s really a gem! Sound guy loved it. Such a pleasure to play a drum crafted this well – amazing rich warm tone with plenty of crack to cut through.”
Just played the Jarrah snare for three days. Tried out different tunings, heads, snare wires… WOW! Absolutely amazing instrument! Really great dynamic range and super sensitive, in almost all tunings. Bigger spectrum, more dynamic range – it offers more frequencies.”
Good old Marri – what a beast! Took it to a rehearsal and they were all amazed. It stands the test against Marshalls, Oranges and big bass amps. Probably keeping this one!
The wood →
It offers just more of everything. Tuned high: all the pop of a side snare with superb tone. Tuned low: that amazing disco thud – with tone, volume and presence a towel could never give.
The wood →To say it’s an absolute monster is an understatement. This one-of-a-kind beast has withstood the harsh 40 °C+ of dry Western Australia to the −15 °C arctic chill of Québec. The best way to describe the Marri would be a super-charged wooden Supraphonic – all the explosive snap and punch of a Supra, with the gooey warmth and colour of a wooden drum. It kind of “nukes” the midrange: pronounced, rich, very organic. Pure and woody… but with a metallic note to it. The best of both worlds!”
More of that nuclear Marri midrange, over on YouTube.
